On a day-to-day basis, what is stopping us from ending each day feeling we accomplished as much as we could have, should have and wanted to?

This question is far too often a reality for too many of us.

Let’s break this reality down and see how we can start to turn this situation around.

First

No one ever won the war without winning some battles along the way. We are not going to move from a position of not achieving a full days goals and priorities to suddenly being in charge, running our own agenda and ending each day having checked off all of our A Priorities in one fell swoop. Life does just not cooperate like that.

Start with this simple 3 part battle plan;

  • Before the start of your next work day, prioritize, in writing, just one task, goal, objective that you want to accomplish during that day, make this you’re A Priority.
  • This prioritized single task, your A Priority, should be Time Activated in your Day Planner in writing, to be accomplished in less than an hour.
  • Be prepared to defend your A Priority against all of the assaults that you are going to experience during your day.

The Importance Of Achieving Your A Priority, For The First Time

Not many of us wake up one morning and find ourselves in charge of our own Agenda, achieving the goals we want, being happy and content with what is unfolding in our lives. Being happy and satisfied is [...]

Get Some White Space into Your life

What is White Space?

White spaces are the areas you should have in your Day Planner that are left blank, on purpose. These white spaces are times that you have allocated, in advance, when you have the chance to do the activities that really matter to you. In most cases, white space is prioritized to give us a break from the day-to-day grind.

How Important is White Space?

Without white space, I can 99% guarantee that you are simply not going to be as effective as you should be. You will not be as energized and as sharp as you need to be, and finally, are just not going to be a happy camper.

  1. Without organized, planned and prioritized time off, it’s only a matter of time before you just get ground down, worn out and perhaps stressed out to a point where you are just not going to be much good to anyone, especially yourself.
  2. Yes, you need to prioritize time off, time to recharge your emotional and physical being
  3. Don’t underestimate the value of making sure your white space is planned, in advance.  The value of being able to look forward to time off in the future, adds to the overall benefit.

What are the Consequences of Diminishing Returns?

The experts say we are only capable of peak maximum effort for less than 2 hours a day.

WOW, that is pretty low, or is it?

When I am focused, [...]

An Original Power Partnership Seminar Q and A

Question:  What does your term, “learning to chop the good stuff” mean?

Answer:  After working with over more than 62,000 people in the last 30 years or so, the fact comes through, time and time again, is that we are our own worse enemies when it pertains to how we actually seem to be sabotaging ourselves.

  1. We all want to achieve as much as we can out of life.
  2. We need to have a way to balance what we want to achieve and what we are capable of achieving.
  3. Finding this balance will enable us to fully realize as many goals as possible, without putting us at jeopardy of trying to reach too far, and in the process, fail at goals that would have been achievable, if we had planned, prioritized and been more realistic in the first place.

Have you ever seen a dog with a bone in his mouth come across another bone on the ground?  He tries to cram that second bone in his mouth and in the process drops the one he has, another dog rushes up, grabs both bones and runs away.

We tend to be like that, we try to cram too much into our lives and, in the process, end up not achieving the achievable, while attempting to achieve the unachievable.

Learn to Chop the Good Stuff

It’s painful, but it’s necessary in order to pave the way to realizing as many goals [...]

Journey Juice #5

It’s as simple as One – Two – Three.

One of the questions that I get asked the most is…

“Tell me the number one activity that I should be doing if I want to make a positive improvement in my life.“

My answer is…

“How about I offer up 3?”

Step 1   To move from here to there, you need to make changes

Step 2   Those changes will alter the current balance in your life

Step 3   Can you now sustain this new balance in your life?

Step 4   Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 as often as you want to

You would think that after more than 30 years searching for  the optimum way to improve, empower and enrich my life and then passing on those findings to others who are interested in the same goals, that I would have come up with something a little more exciting!!

There is no secret formula, no specific one size fits all solution and there is certainly no short cut to any of us  discovering what will work best for us as individuals.

I would like to share with you  a highly condensed version of what I have discovered over the last 3 decades, in the hopes that you can cull some useful information and use it to your benefit over your life journey.

Step 1   To get from where we are now, there has to be movement, there has to [...]

We Can’t Make Them Longer, So Let’s Make Them Better

I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better.

-Henry David Thoreau

The above quote is one of the reasons why I personally like to use quotes as a way of motivating myself.  In one sentence Thoreau sums up about 20 years of my life trying to figure out how to squeeze more into my days when I should have been focused on accomplishing more of the important things than just worrying about production and volume.

To be fair to myself, I was close.  I have always advocated that what was irrefutable to achieving ones happiness was the skill, ability and the discipline required to achieve one’s personal key priorities on a regular basis. I had the intent, what I did not have was Thoreau’s ability to succinctly wrap it up in a single, beautiful sentence.

So, we all are in agreement that it makes zero sense to try to cram everything into one single day and we are also all in agreement that we can not make more time?  So we are left to follow Thoreau’s advice and concentrate on making every day as productive as possible.

What does POP has to say about making each day better?

  • Somewhere, some time, even for a few moments, there has to be something that you do each day that lifts your spirit, that makes you smile, that gives you a small moment of respite.
  • Put something into your PLLL, or take [...]
